APA: Adding APA Style Center Resources to your Moodle Course

Navigate to your Moodle course page and turn editing ON.

FIRST:  You need to add an APA Resource Library to your course, from which you will then choose your content/tutorials.

Locate the module or page section in which you wish to add the resources and click Edit > Add Resource.

Choose the General Tool option under External Tools section.

Name the activity: APA Style Center LIBRARY - For Teachers Only.

From the external tool type dropdown, choose APA Style Center.

Leave the Launch URL empty.

From the Launch container drop down choose New Window.

Click Save and Return to Course.

NEXT: You will open the library you added and choose the tutorials you wish to provide on your course page.

Open the APA Style Center Library - For teachers only resource you just added by clicking on the link.

Locate the content you wish to share by using the drop down menus provided by APA.

To the right of the chosen item, click Show Link.

Copy and Paste the link to your clipboard.

Back in Moodle, locate the module/area in which you wish to add the copied content and click Edit > Add Resource.

Similar to before, Choose the General Tool option under External Tools section.

This time in the settings do the following:

Name the activity the name of the APA Content/Tutorial (i.e. Citing Sources).

From the external tool type dropdown, choose Automatic, based on Launch URL.

Paste the copied URL from the content/tutorial into the Launch URL field.

From the Launch container drop down choose New Window.

Click Save and Return to Course.

IMPORTANT:  You must HIDE the first resource you added (APA Sytle Center LIBRARY - For Teachers Only) from students, as this library is for teacher access only.  Do not delete as you the teacher can and will still need to access it.

To hide this library resource, click the Edit button located to the right of the resource and click Hide.

Repeat steps from the NEXT section and down to add additional resources.
